Toyota Ensures Driver Safety by Recalling FJ Cruisers

As we have mentioned before, Toyota is always known for going out of its way to ensure that customers remain safe behind the wheel of new Toyota models. This is why it has recently recalled the FJ Cruiser for the 2007 to 2013 model years because of possible faulty front seatbelt retractors. If any of you in the greater Florence area have this particular model, we encourage you to bring it to Kerry Toyota or your nearest Toyota dealerships so it can be accessed and fixed free of charge.

The FJ Cruiser is designed with seatbelt retractors mounted on the front passenger and driver side doors. The safety issue doesn't come from the actual design of the pillarless door opening, but the automaker wants to use special precautions in the event that the retractor wasn't properly installed.

More specifically, excessive opening and closing of the doors could cause the retractors to weaken overtime, with the possibility of cracking. In the event that cracks appear, the seatbelt retractor is at risk of completely detaching from the door panel.

While no injuries have been reported in relation to this seatbelt recall, we greatly commend the automaker for promptly notifying its dealerships. Customers will also be notified by mail as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding this recall, we urge you to call us at 866-514-5105 or to come visit us at 6050 Hopeful Church Road Florence, KY 41042.
