Trim Levels
The L base trim is not available for the 2024 model year. However, the 2024 Toyota Highlander still comes with various exciting trims, including LE, Hybrid LE, LE Nightshade, XLE, XSE, Hybrid XLE, XLE Nightshade, Limited, and Hybrid Limited. Higher-end models include Platinum and Hybrid Platinum.
We recommend the mid-level trim XLE because we appreciate its great selection of features. We like that it comes with all the standard features of the LE trim as well as heated front seats, a power sunroof, second-row captain's chairs and sunshades, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.
Interior and Exterior
Cincinnati drivers will be happy to note that the LE model of the new Toyota Highlander can accommodate up to eight passengers. However, it is worth noting that the XLE and higher trim levels can only accommodate seven passengers because of the available second-row captain's chairs. Alternatively, the hybrid powertrain consists of two electric motors and a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. When they combine, they generate 243 horsepower, which is still great for cruising around Covington. The hybrid powertrain pairs with a continuously variable transmission and uses front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Technology
The LE and XLE trims come equipped with an 8.0" infotainment screen. Ideally, there is a 12.3" setup, which is optional on the XLE model but standard on the top two trims. The Platinum model also comes with a 12.3" digital cluster gauge, while the other trims use analog gauges equipped with a small 7" information screen.
The six-speaker audio system comes standard and helps take entertainment inside the 2024 Highlander to new heights. We are also happy that an 11-speaker JBL comes standard on the Platinum and Limited models and is available on the XSE trims.
